Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information YTGrab ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use this website (the "Service"), why we collect it, and the choices you have. We built this tool to work without accounts, so the amount of personal data involved is intentionally small — but we want to be specific about what does pass through the Service.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
The Service is built around a single input: the URL of a YouTube video you want to download. We process that URL to look up the video and offer you formats to download. We do not require your name, email address, or any account to use the core downloading feature.
1.2 Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server and any content-delivery or analytics infrastructure we use may automatically log standard technical information when you visit, such as:
- Your IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Browser type, operating system, and device type
- Pages visited, timestamps, and referring URLs
- General usage patterns, such as which pages are most visited
This information is used in aggregate, to understand traffic and improve reliability, and is not used to build an individual profile of you.
1.3 Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to remember two preferences on this device: your chosen color theme (light or dark) and your chosen display language. These are stored only in your browser, are never transmitted to us, and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.
2. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Process the video link you submit and return available download formats
- Keep the Service reliable, secure, and free of abuse
- Understand aggregate usage so we can improve the Service
- Diagnose technical issues when something goes wrong
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use the videos or links you submit to build advertising profiles.
3. What we don't store
Video and audio files requested through the Service are processed to be handed directly to your browser for download. We do not maintain a permanent library of files you've downloaded, and we do not associate a history of downloaded links with an individual identity, since no account system exists to attach that history to.
4. Third-party services
To fetch video information, the Service communicates with YouTube's publicly available data. Depending on how the backend is configured, this may happen through a third-party API provider or through server-side tooling that we operate. Standard web fonts and, if enabled, privacy-conscious analytics may load resources from third-party domains (for example, a font provider), which can see that a request came from your browser in order to serve that resource.
5. Data retention
Technical server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting purposes, after which they are deleted or aggregated in a way that no longer identifies an individual visitor. Local storage preferences (theme, language) persist on your device until you clear your browser data.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because the Service does not require an account and stores very little identifying information, most of these rights are already satisfied by design — clearing your browser's local storage and cookies removes the preferences saved on your device. If you believe we hold other information about you and would like to make a request, you can reach out using the contact details on this page.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect information in transit and at rest, including serving the Service over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
10. Contact us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, please contact us at privacy@yourdomain.com (replace with your real support address before publishing).
